Mason Greenwood has been voted Manchester United’s Man of the Match for Thursday’s 4-0 victory over AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League.

The youngster was on the scoresheet twice during the drubbing of the Dutch outfit, and has now netted in all three home Europa League matches in 2019/20.

Mason grabbed a brace in the clash with AZ, which helped United to seal top spot in the group and go into Monday’s draw for the knockout stages as one of the seeded teams.

After Ashley Young had put the Reds one up on Thursday night, Mason doubled our lead in the 58th minute when he latched onto James Garner’s tackle on the edge of the area, before smashing the ball beyond Marco Bizot.

Sandwiched either side of Juan Mata’s penalty, the striker grabbed another, this time after he dribbled into the box, cut onto his left foot and squeezed the ball past Bizot at the goalkeeper’s near post.

Mason’s brace also meant he set a club record, as United's youngest player to net two goals in a European game.
It wasn’t just in front of goal where the no.26 excelled, as his trickery and skill also won a penalty from Jordy Clasie's wild challenge just after the hour mark. Mata duly converted the spot kick moments later.

Greenwood was nominated alongside the Spaniard and Brandon Williams for the Man of the Match poll, and the forward collected a convincing 84 per cent of the votes from fans using our Official App. Mata earned nine per cent and Williams seven per cent.
