How to play Fantasy United
Fantasy United is an exciting new Manchester United fantasy football game, in which you score points based on the real-life performances of the Reds on your selected Player Trading Cards.
The cards, a series of digital collectibles newly launched for the 2024/25 campaign, represent every member of our men’s first-team squad and are each available in three different rarities: Classic, Rare and Ultra-Rare.
On top of their hand-drawn designs, the cards will feature dynamic stats that update throughout the season and can be collected via packs of seven, available here.
Once you have added a pack of cards to your collection, the players you get will be eligible to go into your line-up for Fantasy United, and could propel you to glory over friends, family, fellow Reds supporters and club legends!

BUILDING A SQUAD
Head to manutd.com/playercards where you can begin assembling your Player Trading Cards collection and dream Fantasy United line-up. Click the ‘SIGN IN’ button and connect using your social account or wallet to create or connect to an existing wallet.
After you connect or create a wallet, click ‘BUY A PACK’ and select how many packs you want to buy. You can obtain players of all rarities via packs of seven for £3, and can buy up to 10 packs per purchase, paying using card or Tez.
Every member of Erik ten Hag’s squad is available in the three aforementioned rarities, and completing your collection will not only give you a bigger pool of players to choose from in Fantasy United, but also put you in a special prize draw to win exclusive prizes.
SELECTING A LINE-UP
Once you have at least one pack of players, you are ready to select your matchday line-up on manutd.com/fantasy. This will be made up of five cards from your collection for all competitive men’s games in the 2024/25 season, starting with our Premier League opener against Fulham on 16 August.
Your team features three Classic slots for Classic cards, along with one Rare and one Ultra-Rare position in which your players can score double and triple points respectively if they match the rarity of the slot that they are in. Classics can also be picked in place of Rares and Ultra-Rares, but will not have their points multiplied.
There are no limits on how many goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders or forwards you can play at once, and there are no substitutes if your selected players do not play – so be sure to make your choices wisely!
Line-ups must be submitted by 90 minutes before kick-off on a matchday.
As well as double and triple points from Rare and Ultra-Rare cards, there are plenty of routes to a big tally of points from your team on a matchday.
Popular sources are likely to be goals (five points), clean sheets for starting defenders and goalkeepers (four points) and assists (three points), but there are so many ways to net a big score! Check out the full list below…

Penalty save = 5 points

Rare player = x 2 points
Ultra-Rare player = x 3 points
VERIFYING POINTS
Opta provides the stats that inform our points system, and you can visit their website for the definitions of each. Please note that all points will remain as they were originally awarded.
Below is more information on how goalkeepers and defenders become in contention for clean-sheet points in Fantasy United, plus an introduction to best-in-position points, an extra way for you to score at the end of every match United win.
GK & DEF clean sheet and started: Player appeared in the starting line-up and team keeps a clean sheet for the whole game (including extra-time).
GK & DEF clean sheet and subbed on: Player substituted on at any stage and team keeps a clean sheet for the whole game (including extra-time).
Best in position: If United win, one bonus point is attributed to the highest point scorer within the forwards, midfielders and defenders/goalkeepers. If more than one player is tied on points at the top of a positional category, they will each receive a bonus point.

MANAGING YOUR TEAM
Points will be updated as soon as possible after they are scored in game, usually within five minutes, and at full-time.
Between matchdays, you can keep track of your progress and make as many changes to your line-up as you want – including transferring in new cards you may have received from packs. If you forget to change your side, or opt to keep it the same as it is, your previous line-up will carry over into the next matchday.
COMPETING IN LEAGUES
In Fantasy United, you can go directly up against your friends and family in mini-leagues, adding another layer of excitement to supporting United in the 2024/25 season.
To create one, head to ‘LEAGUES’ and click ‘CREATE LEAGUE’. Copy the details to your clipboard or remember the pin and share with your friends and family so they can join. Alternatively, to join one yourself, head to ‘LEAGUES’, click ‘JOIN LEAGUE’ and enter the mini-league pin.
As well as competing with friends, you will be able to go directly up against former United players in our legends leagues, with more info on those to follow soon. Saving your first Fantasy United line-up will automatically enter you into our global league, in which you can compare your rank to fellow Reds across the world.
