Revealed: United Women's Player of the Month

Ella Toone's impressive performances in April have been recognised with Manchester United Women's Player of the Month award.

The ever-popular no.7 picked up 44 per cent of the votes in our official poll, which opened earlier this week on the back of our 1-0 away victory over Leicester City - a game in which Toone scored an excellent 83rd-minute winner.

That strike has been nominated for the WSL Goal of the Month accolade; the result will again be determined by fans' votes and will be announced on Monday 6 May.

In the meantime, Ella can enjoy her triumph at club level after receiving more clicks than team-mates Mary Earps (41 per cent) and Maya Le Tissier (15 per cent).

As well as scoring the decisive goal at the King Power Stadium, Ella registered a significant assist when we recorded our historic first win against Chelsea, defeating them 2-1 in the Adobe Women's FA Cup semi-final.

It was her cross that led to Rachel Williams doubling our lead, midway through the first half with a powerful header, and although former Reds forward Lauren James reduced the deficit just before the break, Toone and her team-mates held firm throughout the remaining 45 minutes to book a return to Wembley on 12 May.
United's other game in April, which Ella also started, was against our FA Cup final opponents Tottenham Hotspur. The WSL meeting at Leigh Sports Village ended 2-2 with Melvine Malard and another award nominee, Le Tissier, on the scoresheet for us.

Toone has now won three of our Player of the Month awards this season, following her back-to-back successes in December 2023 and January 2024.

Congratulations, Ella, and thanks to everyone who voted!
